Why would the church
want to rebuild a pub?
Church is about people and community. We believe that the centre of our local community is Langport. It is where many of the people from local villages and Parishes come for everyday shopping, to see the doctor, to visit the Post Office, and to meet each other.
Our vision is to create a friendly, welcoming and accepting space in the heart of Langport. It's not about setting up another church building - it's about building up community values.
So far, with the help and goodwill of countless people, the main part of The Angel has been renovated and developed into a Cafe which offers a variety of ‘home-cooked’ cakes, sandwiches and lunches, and a good selection of hot and cold drinks to suit every palate! Click HERE to see the Cafe menu...
What else have we achieved so far?
There is a tabletop sale every Wednesday morning and regular Craft Fairs. The Angel is also established as a base where a variety of community groups are able to meet together in a relaxed environment. So far there are regular scrabble afternoons, guitar tuition, a "Forget-me-not Cafe" for those with memory problems, a drop in clinic for those with mental health issues run by MIND, youth groups, a savings scheme, a knitting and crochet group etc. Do check our "What's On" page for a list of current events.
Remember we provide FREE Wi-fi internet access too!
Other facilities planned include disabled access, meeting rooms (for clubs, societies and businesses etc.), start-up work space, and a permanent facility for youth activities – in fact, everything you’d expect from a centre for the community.
